To evaluate, test and deploy latest tools to enable faster release and deployment cycles
To continuously work with business stakeholders, application development and operations teams
To design, test, and implement tools for monitoring of production and non-production customer facing site stability and availability
Implement reusable components
Participate in the processes of strategic project-planning meetings
Provide their guidance and expertise on system options
Share their operational requirements and development forecasts to allow for timely and accurate planning of projects
Responsible for developing and building IT solutions
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
50%- Install (cloud) hardware and software, conducts systems upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software and security related problems
20%- Rapid Deployment Systems (PXE, kickstart, etc)
10%-Thorough understand of TCP/IP and its related protocols
10%- Fully manage services running on Linux (Apache, Tomcat, etc...) using Puppet or Ansible
10%- Maintain VPN infrastructure in the datacenter
NATURE AND SCOPE
This role reports to an Engineering Manager.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Additional Environmental Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 4 years
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Detailed understanding of x86/x64 hardware
Knowledge of software development life cycle, software configuration management practices, release management methodologies, production support.
Experience with cloud providers (Rackspace, Google, AWS)
Virtualization Experience with (Docker, VMware, VirtualBox, etc.)
Setting up and maintaining VPN (OpenVPN, Cisco, etc.)
Extensive Expertise in Unix/Linux, Solaris, multiple Windows desktop and server versions, many Linux flavors
Expertise in installing and administrating LAMP, LAMJ, NFS/NIS
Extensive experience integrating DNS/BIND with DCHP
Extensive experience with OpenLDAP
Extensive experience with Puppet
Extensive experience using Perl or Bash
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:- 4+ years of Linux sysadmin experience
5+ years of experience as a Linux/Unix release engineer.
5+ years production experience operating a LAMP stack
