Home Depot HOME DEPOT DESIGN CENTER - RETURN TO VENDOR ASSOCIATE - SAN DIEGO, CA in San Diego, California

POSITION PURPOSE

Return to Vendor (RTV) Associates are responsible for handling returned merchandise in a timely and appropriate manner. Based on the vendor buying agreement (VBA) of the product returned, RTV Associates communicate with suitable store contacts (both internal and external) to expedite movement of product. To accomplish this objective, RTV Associates build and maintain strong working relationships with Vendors and Store Associates to satisfy their specific policies. RTV Associates also problem solve to identify why products are being returned and communicate opportunities to management. RTV Associates must be familiar with receiving processes. Additionally, all RTV Associates are required to be certified on all powered lift equipment (i.e., electric pallet jack, slip sheet machine, reach truck, order puller, forklift) to unload trucks and move freight from receiving to designated staging areas.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

FOLLOWING PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES

Separating merchandise brought to the RTV area into defective and non-defective categories

Returning non-defective merchandise to the departments

Ensuring that all defective merchandise is catalogued into the system

Running an RTV Tub Listing and determining which vendors will be worked

Following each vendor s specific RTV policy, preparing merchandise and generating RTV paperwork

Making special shipping arrangements

Communicating with Special Services about any issues with importing/completing special order merchandise

Coordinating reimbursement for labor costs on defective installed merchandise with the Vendor

Obtaining Receiving Supervisor s approval of all RTV paperwork

Assisting Vendor Representatives to inspect and authorize RTVs

Following End of Month (EOM) cut off procedures

Ensuring RTV markdowns are submitted on a daily basis

Maintaining out-for-repair merchandise

Assisting with answering receiving phone calls

Scheduling delivery trucks effectively and entering pre-post information into system

Making carton counts and key-rec deliveries

Completing key. rec process and entering detail information into receiving system

CONTROLLING SHRINK

Following procedures for destroying merchandise

Keeping all catalogued merchandise secured in the cage

Educating Customers on the proper use of merchandise that has been returned repeatedly

Communicating with departments about merchandise that is returned repeatedly

Communicating with other Associates about vendor policies and procedures

NATURE AND SCOPE

Physical Job Requirements

Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items. Requires the ability to

move around the store and maneuver merchandise when necessary

Responding to public address system announcements. Requires listening for customer service calls,

personal pages and general information announcements

Walking and Standing. Requires moving around the store to assist Customers

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:

Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odors.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Additional Environmental Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 0 years

Physical Requirements:

Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
