Home Depot SR PICK DEVELOPER in Mount Laurel, New Jersey


Responsible for the support of new or existing application program software, addressing defects and enhancements as assigned. Thorough and accurate in the designing, creating and unit testing of application components and user interfaces in accordance with adopted standards, for integration into larger subsystems. Under general supervision, create or modify business process models and process flow diagrams as a result of defects, enhancement or project requests that cross all phases of the Project Life Cycle. Able to understand functional requirements and translate them into technical requirements, and validate business requirements through execution of test plans. Develop or update required documentation and deploy application code.


70% - Delivery & Execution:

  • Collaborates and pairs with other product team members (UX, engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions

  • Documents, reviews and ensures that all quality and change control standards are met

  • Works with Product Team to ensure user stories that are developer-ready, easy to understand, and testable

  • Writes custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases

  • Writes custom code or scripts to do "destructive testing" to ensure adequate resiliency in production

  • Configures commercial off the shelf solutions to align with evolving business needs

  • Creates meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to ensure that issues are captured and addressed proactively

20% - Support & Enablement:

  • Fields questions from other product teams or support teams

  • Monitors tools and participates in conversations to encourage collaboration across product teams

  • Provides application support for software running in production

  • Proactively monitors production Service Level Objectives for products

  • Proactively reviews the performance and capacity of all aspects of production: code, infrastructure, data, and message processing

10% - Learning:

  • Participates in learning activities around modern software design and development core practices (communities of practice)

  • Proactively views articles, tutorials, and videos to learn about new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations


Typically reports to the Software Engineer Manager or Sr. Manager.



Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Experience in an object oriented programming language (preferably Java)

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Unibasic PICK Programming Languauge.

  • With occasional assistance translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications utilizing flow charting tools to document system flows.

  • Develop new or revise programs, producing high quality code that is maintainable, supportable, performs efficiently upon implementation and satisfies business specifications.

  • Enhance and develop simple to moderately complex application components such as batch, on-line screens, interfaces etc.

  • Document basic use cases and develop test plans to validate program logic.

  • Address production support break-fix tasks in a timely manner keeping IS management and clients informed of status and resolutions.

  • Demonstrate thoroughness and accuracy on all assignments.

  • Practical working knowledge of analysis and design principles, coding and testing techniques and program languages and tools.

  • Ability to identify and understand business problems and opportunities.

  • Overall knowledge of Unidata/ PICK applications & Infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of development and test environments and configuration processes.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills in both technical and non-technical terms.

  • Supply Chain, transportation or warehousing experience a plus

  • Good analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork and open communication.

  • With oversight and guidance be able to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining deadlines.
