Home Depot The Home Depot PRO - Product Engineer Manager in Jacksonville, Florida

POSITION PURPOSE

The Home Depot Pro Manager, Product Engineering has responsibility for leading a team of product engineers focused on the safety, technical, and quality aspects of THD Pro s private brand products for product categories such as builder s hardware, plumbing, electrical, lighting, security, safety, HVAC, and Jan-San. Position is based out of the Bulls Bay Jacksonville, FL location. While an internal candidate has been identified as a potential fit for this role, we encourage qualified candidates to apply.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 60% - Product Onboarding: Manage a team of engineers as they perform product onboarding for all THD Pro verticals and ensure programs are completed in a timely manner. Typical activities include engagement and oversight of product landscape reviews, benchmark testing, product requirements, service provider-performed performance and safety testing, compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and ensuring products satisfy customer expectations. Oversee engineering team assistance with post onboarding hand-offs to ensure consistent vendor and product performance. Develop digital tools to assist with timeline management and tracking of various projects and programs.

  • 15% - Private Brand Support: Train engineers to ensure they personally develop expert-level product authority of private brand products. Lead teams to assist private brand managers with product marketing and packaging reviews. Lead periodic technical product training with private brand teams. Administer a program for the creation of technical submittal documents for private brand products. Lead engineering team to coach business partners on common engineering principles and regulatory requirements for various the products and programs under their control.

  • 10% - Complaint Resolution: Lead team to assist the Quality Engineer with resolving customer product complaints via CAR processes to include assisting with investigations, identifying failure points, defining solutions and follow-up through corrective action processes.

  • 10% - Regulatory Compliance: Lead team to assist the Quality Engineer with the administration of regulatory requirements including compliance with applicable laws, codes, standards, etc. Assist with the administration of related compliance certifications, approvals and listings for private brand products.

  • 5% - Product Recalls: Assist with CPSC, manufacturer s product recalls and self-direct product recalls.

NATURE AND SCOPE

This position reports to the Senior Quality Manager and will have multiple direct reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

ENVIRONMENT:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Conditions could produce mild discomfort on occasion.

TRAVEL:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 4 years

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • · All work experience must be in a technical capacity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Ideal candidates may have retail hardware store experience or a working knowledge of common household systems and products such as toilets, dishwashers, faucets, disposers, lighting, electrical, dryers, washers, HVAC systems, etc.

  • Should have prior experience working with, or as a service provider(s).

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes in areas such as plastics, metals, textiles, etc.

  • · Ideal candidates should have a US passport and be comfortable with international travel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Must have prior leadership experience in managing and coordinating multiple projects and cross-functional teams.

  • Must have excellent time management skills and be dedicated to completing projects on time.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or a comparable CAD application, MS Office products, and SQL

  • Demonstrated proficiency using MS Access

  • Should have experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator or other similar types of graphic programs Must have familiarity with standard hand tools and the use of general lab and testing equipment.

  • Ideal candidates should possess superior problem solving skills and have excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must have the ability to work directly with customers and internal sales associates, as well as domestic and international vendors and company associates in a professional and courteous manner

  • Familiarity with basic best practices regarding regulatory test standards and test methodologies, root-cause analysis and general manufacturing processes to include injection molding, die casting, stamping/forming, machining, etc.

  • Experience developing technical product specification sheets preferred.

  • Must be a team player, committed to achieving personal, departmental, and corporate goals and objectives.

  • Must have reliable transportation. Periodic travel to and from local satellite offices is required.

  • Periodic domestic and international business travel may be required.
