Home Depot The Home Depot PRO - Bid Specialist in Jacksonville, Florida

POSITION PURPOSE

This position is the primary person to administer the functions of the Bids Team. The Bids Team supports the sales team in processing solicitations from government/public customers for MRO supplies and services. This support consists initially of identifying solicitations directly from the customer or submitted by a sales representative. This position keeps track of all the solicitations throughout the process to ensure a complete responsive bid can be submitted in accordance with the required deadlines. This position is required to have significant attention to detail to review each solicitation, identify the required elements, submit it to the

appropriate departments needing to review it, understand the capabilities of the company so any potential issues can be brought to the attention of the sales rep, the legal department and the Bids Team manager. This position will gather input from all appropriate sources, and put together a complete response and submit to the issuing agency. This position coordinates with various departments within The Home Depot Pro and The Home Depot corporate offices. This position documents all actions taken, all bids submitted and not submitted, the reasons for each, and keeps track of all bids awarded. This person gets all bids/contracts signed and obtains corporate seals and other documentation where required.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 50% - Bid Document Preparations

  • 25% - Coordinate bid communications with other departments to include: Home Depot corporate, Legal, sales, pricing, accounting, etc.

  • 15% - Manage incoming emails to Bid Team email box

  • 5% - Keep Sales Reps apprised of PO's and Contract Documents

  • 5% - Upload and Store documentation (example - shared drive) and maintain all Bid Files

This position reports to the Director of Compliance.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

ENVIRONMENT:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

TRAVEL:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 0 years

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-year college degree

  • Contract administration experience

  • Knowledge of The Home Depot Pro legacy systems and processes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge of Home Depot Business capabilities

  • Knowledge of products and services sold by Home Depot and their features and functions

  • Knowledge of contracts and typical contract clauses and their implications.

  • Computer Skills including use of Microsoft Office Products

  • Ability to communicate (listening, writing, and verbally) to many levels of the organization

  • Ability to reason and apply instructions/processes to business situations

  • Strong organizational and planning skills with an attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently as needed
