The Home Depot Rental operates in over 1100 locations of The Home Depot across the US and Canada, offering large towable equipment, tools, trucks and trailer rental along with on-site equipment delivery. The large equipment fleet includes trenchers, chippers, mini-excavators, skid steers, aerial work platform equipment, and tractor loader backhoes among others. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager Rental Field Operations leads the development, execution, and sustainment of a Rental service field operations and continuous improvement program for the entire Rental enterprise.

Candidate will be based on Fort Mill, SC.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

In collaboration with the Senior Director & Director of Rental Operations, serves as the central leader for all operational actions related to equipment service operations including KPI development, SOP and policies, measurement and improvement, operational process development and implementation, and continuous improvement.

In partnership with many stakeholders across the Rental business,

  • Designs and implements operational tools (e.g., systems/technology, processes, training, etc.) that enable field and support leadership to manage operational related costs, make best use of resources, increase equipment up-time, and help drive best in class operational behavior.

  • Develops and maintains a collaboration network of field-based support associates to “action” agreed upon improvement plans and to help implement, monitor and control best practices.

  • Co-owns, along with Product Support and IT, the digital transformation of Rental’s service operations workflows.

  • Develops, maintains, reports and communicates key performance indicators in support of critical areas such as field service, short and long term down equipment, parts inventory, and expense, and labor utilization.

  • Develops and runs pilots and prototypes related to service operations to prove their value and, when applicable, leads and maintains enterprise-wide change initiatives.

  • Provides subject matter expertise on operational policy and procedure and internal operational audit points.

  • Champions innovative and new ways for Rental to engage in service operations and will constantly challenge the status quo.

  • Leads the evolvement of and hardening processes to protect and minimize Rental asset theft with and through the Asset Protection (AP) team.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Position reports to the Director Rental Operations

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Environment:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel between 25% - 50% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 10 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Qualifications:

  • Min 10 years of experience in the development and execution of equipment service operations programs within the Rental Industry

  • 5+ years of experience leading, coaching and mentoring teams

  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight up to +50%

  • MS Excel and database applications, MS PowerPoint and Word

  • Data analytical skills

  • Project management experience preferred

  • Experience with Wynne RentalMan and SmartEquip

  • Extensive and proven leadership skills and the ability to performance manage a team

  • Ability to work collaboratively with sales, store level and field level colleagues in order to provide a spectacular customer experience and optimize and grow the Rental business.

  • Ability to interpret financial statements and performance reporting, and draw conclusions and make appropriate operational changes in response

  • Ability to provide world class customer service, and inspire other team members to do the same.

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history
