Home Depot UX Product Designer - BlackLocus in Austin, Texas

POSITION PURPOSE

This is an exciting opportunity for a UX Product Designer to work on challenging enterprise problems within an innovative start-up environment with extensive learning opportunity. An entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for building new products is a must. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can both take direction but also run with your own ideas and get things done. You are comfortable operating in both technical and business environments. You’ll work with a diverse, interdisciplinary team of engineers, data science, and product designers, as well as business users. In the end you’ll solve important business problems by building and delivering impactful business applications for The Home Depot.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

60% - User Research, Scenario and Use Case Development, Persona Development, Prototyping, Usability Testing

40% - Sheparding designs through the agile sprint development process. Creating and updating design specifications based on user story requirements, answering questions during the sprint, sign off on acceptance criteria.

This position reports to Director Product Management.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 3 years

Physical Requirements:

Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

Additional Qualifications:

Strong customer service / communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education or relevant work experience in Design, UX or similar field

Strong leadership and self starter mentality

Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Experience in conceptualizing, outlining, and executing discovery research

Translating research into architecture/sitemaps, wireframes, workflows and prototypes

Ability to inventively design within the constraints of product requirements

Drive usability testing and collecting user feedback

Harness user feedback to pivot and integrate on design solutions

Experience shepherding design and UX through the agile process

Strong customer service

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:Background and experience in Agile methodologies and work environment

Background and experience in UX Research, Design and Testing
