Home Depot Technical Compliance Manager in Atlanta, Georgia

POSITION PURPOSE

The Technical Compliance Manager (TCM) will lead technical compliance for Product and Engineering. This role will work with internal stakeholders and External Service providers to Establish, Train, manage and publish processes which ensure product regulatory compliance. As a key leader and influencer, The TCM is expected to lead direct reports, lead Service Provider activities and advise the business on compliance as required. The role does not include any direct product department management.

The TCM will own the relationship with the Service Providers across all departments. The TCM will ensure compliance with established policy and will address and support findings from the internal audit (AMP) team. As a matter of compliance, this role will establish and maintain process and policy supporting technical compliance. The role will also establish and maintain technical compliance training materials on policy and process in a centralized database. The TCM is responsible to ensure 3rd party test protocols are reviewed to meet policy and process requirements for compliance.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

20% - Own Service Provider (SP) relationship and direct SP activities across departments. Ensure Technical compliance to all applicable Federal, state and local laws including listings, reporting and registrations.

20% - Lead all communication and resolution on internal audit findings.

20% - Direct resolution of technical compliance concerns including factory process improvements.

15% - Lead direct reports assigned to the TCM.

15% - Establish technical compliance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP s) and training materials.

10% - Mentor assigned engineers and Educate other business team members on the engineering principles and regulatory concerns.

NATURE AND SCOPE

This position reports to the Senior Director of Product Engineering.

This position has 1-3 direct reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 12+ years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent in a field of study related to the job

Significant Product Engineering experience

Experience working in a manufacturing and/or product development environment

Experience working with OEM suppliers through the product development cycle

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:Knowledge of Technical Compliance requirements for “Importer of Record” products sold in USA.

Familiarity with government agencies and retail product requirements such as UL, DOE, CEC, NSF, EPA

Excellent communication skills

Ability to work in cross-functional team environment

Business acumen and understanding of Merchandising
