Home Depot Senior Manager, Product Engineering in Atlanta, Georgia

POSITION PURPOSE

The Sr. Manager, Product Engineering will be responsible for driving engineering and re-engineering programs from a component costing position by determining true product costing so that the buying teams will have the tools needed to understand the raw material costs, manufacturing and labor costs and total cost in manufacturing and shipping product. The manager will lead a team that will integrate all available supplier and factory cost data and will analyze metrics and reporting to effectively reduce cost and risk components of products evaluated.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

50% Develop and validate costing models that provide insight as to the costs to manufacture and deliver quality products on a sku basis using a tried and true costing model

20% Monitor product cost assessments to ensure reliability and repeatability

15% Incorporate the costing model into the business and development plan of the Merchandising Team

15% Lead team by setting goals, driving merchant acceptance of capabilities. Grow projects for costing.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Typically reports to Director Product Engineering

Works in a team environmnet with direct responsibility for providing the resources and talen to meet the goals of the team

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel: Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 7+ years

Physical Requirements:

Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in product design and costing

New product development of consumer packaged goods from concept through production

Management of third party resources (ID firms, engineering firms, third party software)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:Experience leading cross functional teams

Demonstrated project management experience

Experience working with OEM suppliers through the product development cycle
