Home Depot Senior Manager- Building Services in Atlanta, Georgia
Operations Business Senior Managers are responsible for driving large cross-functional projects focusing on bringing value to Home Depot through store operations process improvement. To do this, these individuals are responsible for using high-level strategic thinking to see the big picture, determine multi-faceted problems, understand the fundamental parts of the problems and communicate the problems to a project team. Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining project work plans, manage issues and roadblocks faced during life of project and providing guidance and expert knowledge to all team members (direct reports and cross-functional team members), Business Analysts, Managers and cross functional resources. Operations Business Senior Managers act as liaisons with internal and external project affiliates and collaborate project results and make recommendations to executive sponsor and Steering Committee. Having strong communication skills and cross-functionally partnering with all Operations teams and other Home Depot functional areas is critical for success of this position.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
20% Responsible for leading a team of managers; selection, performance evaluations, training and development of associates.
20% Partnership with peers and business partners to create a cohesive, cross functional team.
10% Provide escalation intervention for major repair/replace issues or large scale damage resulting from natural disasters.
10% Develop work scope specification. Negotiate rates, leverage volume and approve vendors for all maintenance trades.
10% Initiate, refine and implement best practices obtained through industry relationships, peers and Home Depot partnerships.
10% Provide continuous improvement opportunities through feedback to business partners on quality of workmanship as well as budgetary responsibility (ex. Budget, Forecast, variance explanations)
10% Create and sustain an environment of integrity, pride of accomplishment, fairness, learning and personal development.
10% Quote, review and invoice approval for higher value repairs, remodels and capital expenditures.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Position typically reports to Director of Building Services
Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. In addition to personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes which cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness.
Typically requires overnight travel more than 50% of the time.
Additional Environmental Job Requirements:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years
Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
5 years of work experience is preferred
Proven experience effectively managing large scale, complex projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation and facilitation
Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite applications including Excel, Word and Project
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Strength in building cross functional relationships and employee development, mentoring and evaluations.
Ability to work very independently and accept ownership of multiple areas of responsibility
Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
Proficient in interpersonal and communication skills; both written and oral
Skilled in the use of standard software products to manipulate, organize, summarize and present data, business concepts and initiatives.
