Home Depot Multimedia Content Specialist in Atlanta, Georgia

POSITION PURPOSE

The Multimedia Content Specialist will conceptualize and create compelling narratives through a mix of writing, photography, short-form videos, data visualization, and social media content that tell the Home Depot story. As the ideal candidate, you will have a strong passion for brand storytelling, demonstrable understanding of digital content channels and platforms, up-to-date knowledge of current and future digital storytelling trends, and the ability to express complex concepts in a simple and engaging way. You will work with a talented team of writers and designers to brainstorm ideas and support the communication needs of one or more functional areas within Communications and across the business. You will be the subject matter expert that brings all those ideas to life and present iterations and final products to our internal and external partners. The ability to communicate clearly and articulate the rationale behind your creative choices is key. Your work will be seen on Home Depot's owned channels and events, impacting 400,000 associates across the company.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 50% You will be responsible for the production of multimedia content as well as the active maintenance of the media asset library. Key activities include drafting, designing, and producing motion graphics and video content with original or existing visual assets; and shooting and assembling raw materials into a finished product suitable for the intended audience. The material may include camera footage, maps, charts, interviews, audio recordings, sound effects, graphics and special effects. You will also research music, stock, and archival footage and acquire proper acquisition and storage of legal documentation.

  • 25% Provides post-production support such as encoding, exporting, and transferring multimedia files; preparing assets for production and distribution across multiple digital channels; trouble-shooting moderately-complex presentation issues; maintaining an organized post-production workflow; researching relevant software, workflows and trends; and assisting staff with questions about multimedia projects and assets and creating tutorials as needed.

  • 25% Builds effective partnerships to understand the communication needs of the business or functional area supported. Participates in team, staff, and production meetings.

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • Reports to Manager of Associate Communications for Story Lab.

  • No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may provide technical training and information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 3 - 5 years

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in a related field (video production, design, motion media design/animation, computational media, interactive design, filmmaking, photojournalism, etc.)

  • Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Captivate a plus

  • Color correction skills a plus

  • Experience or interest in exploring web-native data visualization

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • A portfolio of past multimedia work - Mastery of Adobe Premier Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop

  • Microsoft Powerpoint, Word, and Excel

  • Experience in concepting, prototyping, and producing short form videos, audio pieces, and multimedia content

  • Demonstrate a knowledge of fast-cut editing and motion media design such as animated explainer videos, data visualization/animated info-graphics, and motion graphic and typographic support to conventional production.

  • A sharp sense of design and discovery

  • A skilled brand and documentary storyteller

  • Audio mixing skills for multimedia content

  • Storytelling as it relates to social media and interest in exploring emerging trends

  • Experience producing multimedia content for key social media channels such as Instagram and YouTube.

  • Media management and video archiving best practices
