Home Depot Manager, Visual Communication & Content in Atlanta, Georgia

POSITION PURPOSE

The Manager, Visual Communications and Content is a core member of The Home Depot Brand Communications Team and manages the visual editorial content strategy for The Home Depot Foundation. This role conceptualizes, creates and implements high-impact visual design solutions and editorial content to drive The Home Depot Foundation and non-profit partners’ messaging through various print and electronic media targeting internal and external audiences.

The Manager, Visual Communications and Content will manage all creative elements related to visual, experiential, web and digital communication, print and online content, advertisements, collateral, executive presentations, signage, web graphics, etc. In addition, he/she will oversee and source photography and develop/maintain photo archives for The Home Depot Foundation.

The Manager, Visual Communications and Content will be challenged to consider new technologies and visual avenues to further enhance The Home Depot Foundation’s storytelling efforts. In addition, this role will work collaboratively across The Home Depot Foundation to stay abreast of priorities and initiatives to manage visual and editorial needs efficiently, i.e., Homer Fund, Veterans’ programs, fundraising events, etc.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Design, conceptualize and create graphic and digital materials, from concept to production; coordinate scheduling, process and handle collateral/artwork for The Home Depot Foundation, including non-profit partners and Homer Fund. (60%)

  • Drive visual communications and content strategy and identify opportunities for The Home Depot Foundation to further enhance storytelling efforts for internal and external audience. (25%)

  • Create and manage development of editorial content related to The Home Depot Foundation. (15%)

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • Typically reports to Senior Director, Product Innovation and Social Impact Communications

  • No direct reports

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 7 years

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on Graphic Design or Art and 7+ years experience.

  • Track record of driving the communication process from concept to delivery.

  • Graphic design and web design work with project management experience.

  • Complete understanding of design to print and web process; broad knowledge of art and design fundamentals including brand principals and guidelines as expressed across many different media.

  • Proficiency in design applications; high level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) and PowerPoint.

  • Strong familiarity with offset and digital printing is required, with an understanding of web and online production.

  • Photography and video editing skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.

  • Demonstrates learning agility, strong thinking and analytical skills. Ability to get up to speed with new processes/procedures and able to adapt readily to change.

  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills.

  • Promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.

  • Ability to plan and manage schedules for multiple tasks.

  • Ability to influence a cross-functional team and peers and work independently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
