Home Depot Manager, Finance in Atlanta, Georgia


The Finance Manager, The Company Store will support the Director, Merchandising Finance and will have full ownership of The Company Store P&L including revenue, gross margin and operating expense management. This role will work closely with all stakeholders in the The Company Store business including Marketing, Merchandising, Product Development, and eCOMM while also partnering with other internal finance groups including Subsidiary Accounting, FP&A and Finance leadership. The ideal candidate should feel comfortable working in a fast paced, start-up environment, leading a team of top performers, as well as presenting and defending their analyses and findings to senior leadership. The Finance Manager will focus his or her time between the following activities: planning and forecasting; ad hoc analysis and reporting; strategy development and implementation.


Conduct bi-annual financial planning for function and make appropriate recommendations to Finance leadership.

Conducts monthly financial review of revenue, gross margin and expenditures (expense and capex) and ensures that budgetary goals are met.

Develops and supports a strong alliance with business partners.

Works to fully understand the business, identifying and implementing various process and organizational improvements, and ensuring operational practices and procedures are compliant and consistent with established policies and GAAP reporting requirements.

Participates in cross-functional activities focused on solving business issues and enhancing our competitive advantage.

Facilitates cross-functional communication with other areas of the business including but not limited to Finance, Human Resources, Real Estate, Operations, and Information Systems.


Typically reports to a Director.

Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. In addition to personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.


Environment: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel: Typically requires overnight travel 20% of the time.

Essential Skills:


Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Financial analysis, strategic thinking, and presentation skills

  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on Excel and Power Point

  • Ability to understand Merchandising/Retail Strategy

  • Strong ability to build relationships with all levels of the organization

  • Ability to influence without authority

  • Team leadership and supervisory experience

  • Ability to work in a matrix environment

  • MBA – Master of Business Administration
