Home Depot MANAGER DC ENGINEERING - ATLANTA in Atlanta, Georgia

POSITION PURPOSE:

Manager DC Engineering to have one or more engineer direct reports. Manager leads cross-functional projects in SDC Network that are typically related to process improvement, strategic initiatives, and/or space and capacity planning and span across multiple functions including Transportation, Delivery, Distribution, International Logistics, and Inventory Planning. Manager may execute strategic initiatives, perform operational analysis, process improvement, facility and capacity planning, and project management

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • 30% Leads cross-functional strategic or process improvement projects Mentors and Guides Logistics Engineers Provides recommendations to Sr. Management

  • 25% Identifies Logistics process improvement opportunities through competitive analysis, and critical thinking. Supports and/or leads cross-functional strategic or process improvement projects.

  • 20% Supports time studies, performs zero base analysis, rate analysis, network analysis, statistical analysis, flow path analysis and supply chain analysis. Develops metrics for business units within Supply Chain.

  • 15% Develops metrics and key performance indicators for assigned business unit.

  • 10% Reviews and recommends system/software enhancements.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Reports to Sr. Manager

Typically requires interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.

Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches.

Typically considers new courses of action within broad policies and medium-term goals when solving problems.

Typically, once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Environment: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Additional Environmental Job Requirements: Under regular pressure to meet deadlines, quotas and/or must frequently deal with difficult issues related to people or situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required: The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

Excellent project management skills.

Demonstrated abilty to perform financial analysis.

Ability to ascertain and solve problems.

Strong computer skills.

Strong communication skills.
