Home Depot Manager, Data Analytics & Insights in Atlanta, Georgia

POSITION PURPOSE

The Manager, Data Analytics & Insights is responsible for leading a team of analysts and data scientists providing analytical support to the development & execution of pricing strategies and tactics at THD. This role will support & lead various data analytics, predictive modeling, process optimization initiatives along with building the right visuals to unleash valuable business insights. An ideal candidate is an individual with a deep background in statistics, analysis, experiment design and can bring those skills to influence business decisions by collaborating with executives & stakeholders of the Merchandising Solutions team. The role will play a key function in providing thought leadership to oversee the development of insightful and scalable pricing insights, ensuring analytic capabilities are defined with proper methodological rigor and architected to be available in a robust, scalable, and sustainable fashion.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

20%- Coordinate with stakeholders to conceptualize, develop and implement consistent, robust and sustainable pricing and business intelligence capabilities. Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise in all aspects related to analytics and data science within pricing context

40%- Lead the team in development of analytical insights and recommendations to cross-functional business partners both within and outside of pricing organization to helping them gain a better understanding of business, identify sales and profitability opportunities, and improve their decision-making

20%- Coach and continuously develop analytics and data science talent within the team

10%- Collaborate with partners to define the strategy and development plan for pricing, business intelligence, and competitive intelligence capabilities

5%- Prioritize multiple requests from executive and cross-functional partners for both ad-hoc and repeatable support

NATURE AND SCOPE

Reports to Sr Manager, Pricing.

This role may have 2 direct reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 6 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Additional Qualifications:

Experience leading an analytical or data science project

Experience of using advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.)

Experience using statistical and data manipulation computer languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL).

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operational Research, Statistics, Mathematics, etc) or relevant work experienc.

4+ years of industry experience in data science & analysis

Experience using SQL, Python and/or R

Experience using data visualization tools

Combination of deep technical skills & business acumen to interface with all levels & disciplines within THD

Experience diving into data to discover hidden patterns

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:

Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks

Experience of using advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.)

Experience using statistical and data manipulation computer languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL)

Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using Tableau or other similar applications

Critical thinking, effective written and verbal communication skills
