As a User Experience (UX) Design Lead, you will help define and drive the future of homedepot.com design. You will not just be designing features, but design systems that scale, and full end-to-end experiences. You will push the boundaries of what’s possible and have the courage to pursue forward-thinking design.

In this role, you will apply your passion for brand, craft, and design fidelity to guide research and design processes, mentor talented members of your team, and collaborate with other UX and product teams to create innovative experiences across all of Home Depot’s digital footprint.

You are a systems-level design thinker and visionary - with an outstanding intuition - who will provide leadership mentoring to junior designers. You have a sense for clean design and are committed to creating elegantly simple user experiences from otherwise complex workflows. You also take time to understand performance side of design, and also the business aspects of the products.

User Experience (UX) is at the forefront of how we create intuitive, innovative, and beautiful products that people love. We strive to learn and understand our users’ needs, behaviors, and emotions to yield insights that inform product strategy and guide the design of the experiences we create. Our multidisciplinary UX teams include designers, researchers, content strategists, who are passionate about quality, usability, and performance. We collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, and many others to solve complex challenges and craft powerful experiences that highlight the unique advantages of omni-channel retail.   • 40% Working with product and engineering to design and improve Home Depot’s ecommerce products. Help deliver a UX vision, along with a plan for evolutionary, iterative updates, that actualize the larger vision over time.

  • 20% Listening to users by partnering with our User Research team - conducting usability as well as competitive/comparative analysis

  • 15% Consulting with stakeholders to understand their business needs, goals and explaining research results, leading group design exercises. Build strong relationships and operating rhythms inside and outside of your core teams to efficiently implement user experiences that are cohesive, inclusive and well-informed.

  • 15% building team norms and standards across UX to drive collaboration and consistency. Implement culture and principles within the group, while setting new standards in executional and operational excellence.

  • 10% mentoring and coaching other designers.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 50%-Translate wireframes into comps, storyboards, experience prototypes

  • 20%-Oversee the work of multiple UXD resources, coordinating meetings & reporting out on the status for the projects across those workflows.

  • 20%-Responsible for developing and communicating industry-leading creative concepts while balancing strategic development with online business objectives

  • 10%-Provide quality assurance of all creative deliverables

  • Reports to Manager, User Experience

  • No direct reports

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Additional Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience

  • Portfolio of UX-focused work samples for web and mobile applications.

  • Exposure to both theory and practice of Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Usability Engineering, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, or related discipline

  • Previous project leadership experience within e-commerce

  • Demonstrated user experience design skills with expert knowledge of current design programs

  • Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript

  • Demonstrated experience in designing creative and web pages for e-commerce websites

  • Knowledge of usertesting.com tool

  • Act as an exemplary representative of the online experience team in its dealings with internal clients and external vendors with the ability to interact comfortably with executives at highest levels of the Company

  • Provide strong client management skills with flawless follow-up

  • Provide creative solutions consistent with industry trends, demonstrating ability to problem-solve

  • Ability to translate complex information into easy-to-understand designs and visual elements
