Home Depot DIRECTOR OF SALES - VMI in Atlanta, Georgia

Position Purpose

The Home Depot Pro is among the nation’s largest distributors and direct marketers of specialty maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) products, both branded and private label. It stocks more than 100,000 plumbing, janitorial, electrical, hardware, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); and other MRO products, from more than 3000 suppliers worldwide. Products and value-added services are sold to more than 175,000 active customers, including facilities maintenance customers, professional contractors, and specialty distributors.

Key end-markets include multifamily housing; health care institutions; educational organizations; lodging; plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC contractors; locksmiths and hardware stores. The company operates more than 70 distribution centers / branches and four regional replenishment centers across the United States, which facilitates reliable same-day or next-day delivery service to 98% of the U.S. population.

The Home Depot Pro employs a multi-dimensional sales model to drive market share gains. With a unified operating platform, the company can sell the same product to various customers utilizing different pricing schedules and different service models, depending on the needs of each customer.

Under the guidance of the General Manager of Sales and Customer Inventory Solutions, our focus is to drive sales with our most complex customers across all verticals within the Pro organization through shared capabilities and solutions.

The Director of Sales is a strategic, proactive thinker who identifies new ideas and makes suggestions to improve current processes. The incumbent must provide strong leadership, guidance and expertise while demonstrating THD Values in a consistent manner.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

50%- Daily/Monthly goal focus with sales team. Includes one on ones, call monitoring & ride along.

20%- Customer face-to-face meetings

30%- Forward planning with GM, marketing & functional partners.

Nature and Scope

Reports to General Manager. Has up to 12 direct reports.

Environmental Job Requirements

  1. Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required - The knowledge, skills and abilities

typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

Years of Relevant Work Experience - 5

Certificates/Licenses -

Physical Job Requirements - Most of the time is spent sitting in a

comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Previous B2B operations or sales experience at senior level and above

  • Solution selling experience with vendor managed inventory (VMI)

  • Experience developing, Sales Goals, Negotiation, Coaching, Managing Processes, Developing Budgets, Staffing

  • Knowledge of Salesforce.com or ERP system a plus

  • Customer service oriented

  • A proven track record of results

  • Proven ability to identify root cause and solve issues with a high sense of urgency and attention to detail

  • Leading regional teams of +10 associates
