Home Depot Director, Learning Strategy & Execution in Atlanta, Georgia

POSITION PURPOSE

The Director of Learning is responsible for establishing learning strategies and execution plans for their targeted audiences, serving as the key point of contact for business leaders and their HR partners. The Director attracts, hires, and develops people who take a learner-centric approach to defining and routinely validating learning needs for targeted audiences. The Director works through the team to create effective content and execution plans, and ensure needs are addressed with simple, relevant, and effective solutions. The Director keeps the team focused on the learner, while emphasizing the importance of a strong relationship and partnership with the business. The Director of Learning consistently introduces new and better ways to solve associate and business problems that are both practical and effective. It’s important for the Director to build networks outside of The Home Depot, developing and maintaining an external perspective in order to bring new ideas and solutions to the Company.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Working with Atlanta SSC on Divisional needs, curriculum development and strategic planning

Partnering with various functional and field business partners to execute their training needs

Analyzing various reports and identifying needs or opportunities

Working with Stakeholders on rollout of training materials or curricula

Tracking results to evaluate the financial impact and business results of training

Leading and supervising Divisional Learning and Specialty College Managers, Project Managers, and other trainers

Strategic planning by using various reports

Responsible for appropriate selection, termination, performance appraisal, and professional development of assigned staff.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Typically reports to Human Resource Vice President.

Direct and indirectreports typically include up to 15 managers/supervisors, 3 professionals, and 50 support associates

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 8 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

Nine to twelve years learning and/or instructional design experience is preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:Organization Development / Organization Effectiveness Consulting is highly desireable

Ability to manage across the organization / Ability to influence others

Strategic planning

Understanding of Adult Principles of learning

Excellent communications & presentation skills
